I just finished watching part 7 and part 8 of J.P. Schoeffel’s Live Case Study on Site Monetization. JP’s monetization results are surprising yet motivating. I never thought someone could generate income in that short span of time. It makes me wonder if I can incorporate some of his processes into my current model. My site-building methods are from the “slow but sure” school of thought. Perhaps it’s time for me to pick up the pace a little?

If you haven’t already seen them, head on over to VisitorSense. In the first week that the demo site has been up, JP’s only used Blog and Ping, Social Bookmarking and MySpace marketing for traffic generation. This effort alone has generated positive results already.

After the first week, he shifts his traffic generation methods to Article Marketing. He only mentions submitting to EZineArticles. This makes me think of yet another issue people debate over in forums. Some stand by the fact that you only need to submit to the top 3-5 article directories, while some say that article submission services / software (that blast out the article to hundreds or thousands of directories) is the way to go. I’m in favor of the latter, while occassionally submitting manually to the top 3 directories.

After only the second week of the site’s existence, JP’s conversion rate is remarkable. Plus, he’s almost at a point where his site is on “auto-pilot”. I think they key lesson so far has been to listen and do what he is showing and instructing. For example, he discusses social bookmarking and shows you how to do it once. He does go on to tell you to do it a lot of times. The repetitive and “boring” work is not shown in the videos, yet it is a vital part in the entire process. Same goes with the article rewriting. You simply have to suck it in and do the grunt work somehow. Whether it’s you or outsourced, the task must be done.

With the last 2 videos still on its way, I’m already impressed with what JP’s Site Monetization videos have shown. I definitely picked up some tips and insightful thoughts to make my existing process even better. Again, all this is free. All you have to do is drop an email — which really isn’t a big deal.
